The first picture of the all-new 2028 Polestar 7 has been teased, building the anticipation for an advanced all-new SUV that has been created to sit between the Polestar 2 and Polestar 4 in the premium brand’s expanding line-up.
And no that’s not the teaser image above – that’s what ChatGPT thinks a Polestar 7 will look like using the teaser shot (below) as a guide.
Announcing that it will be the first Polestar ever to be manufactured in Europe, the new Polestar 7 is set to be assembled in an all-new Volvo-owned Slovakian plant.
Thought to have been developed alongside the all-new Volvo EX60 the Polestar 7 will share the mid-size all-electric SUV’s next-generation SPA3 platform.

It will also benefit from the Swedish brand’s next-generation EV tech.
In its recent history Volvos like the compact EX30 EV have been based on Geely’s SEA platform. But the Swedish firm now says all its future models will now migrate to the SPA3.

It’s not yet known if fure models from Polestar, which started life as a Volvo-owned premium or luxury brand, will also all be underpinned by the Volvo platform.
One positive for a SPA3-based Polestar 7 is it will be significantly lighter than current EVs thanks to its cell-to-body technology.
The Sino-Swedish brand says that the 7 will also benefit from Volvo’s next-generation batteries and all-new e-motors that have been developed in-house.
It’s not been confirmed, but it’s thought the Polestar 7 will be smaller than the Volvo EX60 as it won’t be a direct replacement for the base Polestar 2, with the entry model set to now get its own successor.
Even though Polestar appears to be cosying back up to Volvo, the Polestar 7 is set to be very different from the inbound EX60.
It will feature radical styling and driving dynamics that are more aligned with a sports car, rather than the comfort-biased Volvo.

Commenting on the first official teaser of the Polestar 7, the car-maker’s CEO, Michael Lohscheller, said:
“Working with Volvo Cars to develop and manufacture Polestar 7 in Europe is a unique opportunity that will strengthen our position in our home market.
“Our strategy of utilising Group architectures as the base for our future model line-up gives us access to the best, latest technologies, in a cost-efficient manner.
“With a design and sporty driving characteristics that are instantly recognisable, Polestar 7 will set new standards in the premium compact SUV segment.”
The motivation to build a Polestar in Europe is that a Slovakian-made vehicle avoids the recent tariffs employed by the European Union on Chinese-made cars.
Currently, the existing Polestar 2 and Polestar 4 are made by Geely in China, while the 2025 Polestar 5 and big Polestar 3 SUV are both built in the US, alongside the Volvo EX90.
