Crazy Hyundai IONIQ 6 N teased...

Hyundai’s high-performance division has released teasers of its inbound 2026 Hyundai Ioniq 6 N and announced it will unwrap its high-performance sedan on July 10 (10:30pm AEST) at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

The Hyundai IONIQ 6 N will come with the car-maker’s latest e-shift technology and N active sound, along with the performance division’s N drift optimiser.

As part of the new release, Hyundai has also claimed the 6 N will be even better to drive – compared to highly entertaining IONIQ 5 N – thanks to the hot sedan’s lower roll centre and enlarged caster trail for ‘improved on-centre feel and steering feedback’.

Finally, the IONIQ 6 N comes equipped with new electronically controlled stroke sensing (ECS) dampers, said to bring ‘a new level of driver confidence by delivering a refined balance of comfort and precise handling response’.

Wider and lower than the standard versions with unique front and rear styling, flared arches to accommodate the wider tracks, a fixed rear wing and extra underbody aero, the new hot Hyundai EV has had its handling and high-speed stability tailored to the Nürburgring.

Expect the cut-price alternative to Porsche Taycan to set a publicised hot lap to cement its performance credentials.

There’s still no word how much power the IONIQ 6 N will produce, but it’s a safe bet it will produce more than the IONIQ 5 N – so expect a healthy bump on the ballistic 478kW and 770Nm the hot SUV boasts.

That means the IONIQ 6 N should launch from 0-100km/h in around 3.2 seconds – a time that was once the preserve of the fastest supercars.

Fitted with the larger 84kWh battery pack, with better aerodynamics the IONIQ 6 N should be able to travel more than 450km on a single charge.

Full details of the fast Hyundai IONIQ 6 N will be released on July 10.
