By 2030 we will be an EV (electric vehicle) nation. The number of EV’s on the road is growing rapidly and drivers are looking for lovely places to stay where they can charge their cars overnight.
Not only would installing an EV charging unit in your holiday let encourage greener living, but it would also increase your clientele base and offer a little something different for environmentally aware guests.
The good news is that there is now grant funding available to help pay for the charging unit! The Government recently opened up the grants scheme to include small businesses such as holiday lets. The aim is to boost EV charging in rural areas and ensure peace of mind when drivers travel outside of cities.
The new system will pay up to 75% of the purchase and installation costs (inclusive of VAT) capped at a maximum of £350 per charge point socket.
The scheme is open to organisations (as defined below) that fulfill the criteria:
-
Are you a registered business, evidenced by a Companies House reference number?
-
Alternatively, apply by using your VAT registration number or HMRC registration letter.
-
You have dedicated off-street parking for guests.
-
You own the property or have consent from the landlord for charge points to be installed at all the sites listed in the application.
